Thin sheet may be inspected for laminar discontinuities with the ultrasonic wave directed normal (perpendicular) to the surface by observing:

the amplitude of the front surface reflection.

the multiple reflection pattern.

the amplitude of the initial pulse.

signals that “walk” or move along the time base as the transducer is scanned over the sheet.
